How it works

If you are ready to improve your home the process begins with scheduling a relaxed 30min consultation to discuss your challenges and provide potential solutions.  We listen to your ideas and vision and discuss how to ensure it aligns with your allocated budget and time-frame.  Exciting times are ahead and we are here to help you every step of the way.

1. We listen

To make the most of this valuable consultation, it would be beneficial for you to come prepared with:

  • The 1 thing that would have the biggest and best impact for you in your home
  • Your list of ‘must haves’ vs. ‘nice-to-haves’
  • The realistic budget range you’re comfortable to spend
  • Your ideal time frame of when you would like this to happen and whether you would live in your home during the project

Having parameters at the outset avoids spending money on plans that end up outside your budget or disappointment around when the work can be completed.
At the end of consultation you can expect to have a clearer idea of what will work well for you and to be excited about the possibilities!

2. Concept + estimate

From the information gathered at the consultation, we’ll provide a concept design where our designer will put your dreams onto paper.  When the concept has been finalised we’ll use it to provide you with a cost estimate.

3. Working drawings + specifications

Once the estimate is accepted and you are a customer of SLC Builders we will respect and manage your time and ours to ensure neither time or money is wasted.  Based on your selections, we’ll give our designer the green light to turn your concept into full working drawings and specifications.  We will book your project in and give you certainty of a time-slot.

4. Contracts + scheduling

When you confirm that the working drawings match your requirements, we’ll provide a fixed quote. The building contract and guarantee documents are signed and a staged payment schedule is provided so you’ll know what to expect and when to expect it.

5. Construction begins

Construction will begin soon after the consented plans are received from the Council.  A start date will be decided and an indicative timeline presented.

Throughout the construction process our Project Manager will carry out inspections to ensure all quality standards are met and will keep you up to date with progress.  Communication is important to ensure everyone is on the same page. We are always available and will be happy to discuss any queries you may have.

6. Job done

After the final inspection is complete we’ll leave you with a clean and tidy home.  We will confirm that all the necessary inspections and paperwork have been completed as part of the sign off and provide our workmanship guarantee to ensure you have total peace of mind to go with your new and improved home.  Your project is finished and is all yours to enjoy!
